Comics Period

Rooting comic books in their history and teaching nerdom to the masses.

APE IN A CAPE: Great comics with women in starring roles: a rec list.

reservoircat:

To start off, I’m gonna go ahead and say two things:

  • You might not like all of these recs. I’m more fond of some then others. I am recommending these because I think their portrayal of the women characters as either main characters or main characters out of a mixed gender…

When I’m on a plane with too much turbulence, I watch All Star Superman on my iPad. When I feel sad or depressed or frustrated, I read Superman: Red Son. When I want to feel vindicated, I use Ireedemable to prove that Supes can change the universe with a blink of his eye. He is the kind of…

APE IN A CAPE: Cosplayers

gailsimone:

I can’t believe this still needs to be said.

Cosplayers are not there to be your pets, your pretend girlfriend/boyfriend, or your creepy grope fantasy. Don’t put your hands on them without permission, don’t take photos without permission, don’t bully them, don’t push them into corners, and if…

Gail Simone is the coolest: APE IN A CAPE: The Video Game As Game Changer

gailsimone:

I’ve been giving a lot of thought lately to structure as a storytelling foundation. Please understand that the following are just random thoughts and questions, not meant to indicate a final theory. AND this is long, I suggest not reading it at all.

Okay, here we go.

For many, many years, the…

A quick note!
Some of you may be wondering why this strip is titled “JL8 #67.” I posted a video about it yesterday, but I’m sure some of you didn’t bother to watch it (which is fine).
The title “Little League” actually infringes on existing trademark, and I’ve been asked to re-title the strip, which I’m doing. It is now going to be titled “JL8.” That being said, I have until Aug. 31st to also change the name of the Facebook and Tumblr pages. Fortunately, Tumblr allows a pretty easy switch, but I’ll also have to change the URL. This is important because I know a lot of my readers have this page bookmarked. On Sept. 1, that bookmark will no longer work, as this page won’t exist. If you’d all be so kind as to bookmark the URL:
jl8comic.tumblr.com
That will be where the site is hosted beginning Sept. 1. I plan on reminding everyone with each update leading up to that date, but I recommend just bookmarking it now. There’s nothing there yet, but next Thursday this page will pop up there. Anyway, thanks so much for reading.
See you on the other side!

Hey guys!I’m sure some of you haven’t heard, but due to certain legal issues (NOT involving DC Comics) I’ve been asked to change the title of the strip from “Little League” to “JL8.” Unfortunately, that also requires a new webpage. So! If
you’re a fan of the strip, and don’t want to miss out on some of the bonus content the Facebook page provides, head over to facebook.com/jl8comicFeel free to use this image as a cover photo, or simply share it to help spread the word! Thank you so much, everyone!Remember: new title, same great content!
EDIT: The Tumblr URL will change to jl8comic.tumblr.com on Sept. 1. If you follow the Tumblr, you’ll be fine. If you read the comic via bookmarking, I’d probably go ahead and bookmark that new page.
